Train those involved in hiring process in learning about stereotype threat, implicit bias, and culturally sensitive ways to search for and engage candidates
Strive for gender and race balance among employees in academic departments and in positions of leadership
Conduct periodic focus groups, in addition to confidential surveys, with ALL employees to assess the kinds of support needed to improve retention
Brainstorming way to improve disciplinary ​procedures such as the following
Current ineffective policies and procedures & potential success in implementing a restorative justice model
Current Code of Conduct handbook, dress code, lateness policy, detentions, etc. to ensure diversity and inclusivity are considered
Enhancing College Counseling
Finding ways to improve the counseling process and experience, particularly for first-generation college students and students of color
Working to transform curriculum credits, such as
Adding .5 credit for diversity education in graduation requirements
Using Honors, APs, summer assignments & extra credit as an opportunity to integrate diversity & inclusion curriculum (texts, films, art, etc.)
